Short interview on the floor

Gov. Bill Richardson on the floor of the Democratic National Convention in Denver shortly before talking with NMI.

The above headline applies not just to the unidentified TV interviewer pictured here, but the interview Gov. Bill Richardson gave NMI a few minutes later.

The convention floor was a zoo as the roll call vote was about to begin. One of Richardson’s press aides explained that a previously scheduled interview was running late and implied that the interview with NMI might not happen.

A few minutes later, as the interview with the diminutive, shoeless TV interviewer ended, Richardson was led away.

But before he got too far, he turned around, told a staffer, “We’re not going to diss this guy,” referring to this reporter, and proceeded to indulge NMI with a brief, but informative interview about the speech he will deliver from the convention podium later this evening.

New Mexico’s two-term governor and ex-Democratic presidential candidate is scheduled to address the convention sometime around 8 p.m. MST.

Check back later for NMI’s Wednesday interview with Richardson on the floor of the convention in Denver.
