A group of veterans who support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will begin airing a TV advertisement in battleground states throughout the nation, including New Mexico.
Vets for Freedom announced in a press release a multimillion-dollar ad buy that is part of a campaign called "Four Months, for Victory."
Vets for Freedom said the campaign "is intended to inform the American public and key lawmakers about the phenomenal success that our troops have achieved as a result of the surge and the importance of ensuring victory in Iraq, Afghanistan and the overall Global war on Terrorism."
The ads will run throughout July and August on local target markets in addition to national cable. The ad is the first of several, and the initial ad buy is for $1.5 million nationwide, according to the Washington Post.
"We changed strategy in Iraq," said one veteran in the ad. "And the surge worked," another continued.
"Now that's change you can believe in," another veteran finished, echoing Barack Obama's campaign slogan.
The other states involved in the ad buy are Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Missouri, Colorado, Ohio, Florida and Virginia. The group's political action committee features 13 candidates for seats in the U.S. House or U.S. Senate. All thirteen are Republicans.
