The Albuquerque Pride Parade made its way up Central Ave. on Saturday morning. The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community has been putting on the parade for 32 years with the last few years marking its biggest numbers for attendance. There was expected to be over 10,000 participants in the parade as well as festivities that followed at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds.
Protesters of the parade were also present. A small group of men held up signs, many with religious references, denouncing homosexuality. One man wore a sign that read “The blood of Jesus was not HIV.”
The theme of this year's parade was “Live, Love, Be”. The small group of protesters did little to quell the overwhelming enthusiasm of the event and the parade seemed to go off without a hitch.
