Carville gives to Obama

By Trip Jennings 07/02/2008

James Carville, the Clintons' fire-breathing surrogate and coiner of exquisite stiletto-like rejoinders throughout the Democratic presidential primary, has finally joined the Barack Obama train -- sort of.

The blog Swing State of Mind is reporting that Carville has given money to Obama's presidential campaign. We thought you might want to know, given the dustup that Carville and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson got into earlier this year. Something about Judas and 30 pieces of silver.

As Dave Maass reported for the blog July 1:

Carville’s office tells SSOM via email today:

Mr. Carville has contributed to Obama for America. Thank you.

A nice, short response. One could almost describe it as terse, except for the Thank You at the end.

The blog didn't have to look far for terse, however.

When asked via email if the Governor’s office wanted to comment, Richardson’s spokesman Gilbert Gallegos responded instantly with his Blackberry: “No.”

Think there might still be some hard feelings?

Ugh, if I had to guess -- yeah.

As everyone who pays attention to politics already knows, Richardson is a high-profile supporter of Obama's who earned the wrath of Carville when the governor endorsed Obama. There have been numerous iterations of this story, including in the Independent. So is this the end? We'll see.
