The big media distortion

I was going through some of my favorite Web sites just the other day and I came across an article the Heritage Foundation had up about Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn.). It claimed Dodd had been exposed by Bank of America personnel. They showed copies of a letter written by their company that wound up, word for word, as the exact bill he is carrying to bail out the banking industry.

Impeach John Paul Stevens

I was reading with much enjoyment the recent decision by the United States Supreme Court to uphold the Constitution with regard to the Second Amendment. But then my blood ran cold when it dawned on me that the case was decided by a 5-4 margin. My mind quickly moved from enjoyment to complete and total fear -- fear that we actually have four nimrods who for some reason can find a way to limit my ownership of guns, despite the clear language of the Bill of Rights...

Bloggers gone wild

Over the past election cycle or so, including the run-up to this November, I continue to be amazed, and a little concerned, about the role blogs seem to play in electing the people who will represent us at all levels of government. I’ve been amazed at the number of blogs that have popped up just here in New Mexico. Some are well-written and offer useful information. Others are just plain old attack weapons, used by both parties.

Health care impasse

As the citizens of the great State of New Mexico prepare themselves for yet another special session, I thought maybe we should actually talk a little about the health care “crisis” facing our state.

Over the last few years we’ve heard a lot of talk about the number of uninsured in this state and there’s been considerable debate about that number. Advocates of universal care repeatedly state that there are 400,000 uninsured New Mexicans. What they don’t tell you is that roughly half, or 200,000 of those, are currently eligible for some state or federal program, but have chosen not to sign up for them.

As we move closer to the November election, it amazes me the nerve of Barack and his left-wing supporters and their already revisionist perspective on the war on terror, as well as their continued opposition to protecting Americans and our economy. It is so disgusting that last week on Barack’s world tour -- with stops in such friendly countries as Germany and France -- he couldn’t help bashing our country

Tax rebate outrage: Money goes to those who paid no taxes

Having just returned from what will probably be my last legislative session, I have to tell you I was amazed at how well the Democrats can stay on message nationally and locally. We finished a “special session” that was to deal with emergency issues. I was shocked to see that a proposal to give some people a small check had been labeled an “emergency.” This proposal was given the name “tax rebate.” Many people who will receive the so-called rebate actually paid no taxes at all. And many thousands of others paid very little.
